Founded in 1878, Highgate Choral Society is one of London’s leading and longest-established choirs. In recent years, the choir has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim and built an enviable reputation for the high standard of its concerts and its championing of both new commissions and rarely-performed works. The choir now includes over 200 singers from all over north London and beyond.
Ronald Corp conducts HCS in several concerts a year in London as well as further afield, and recent overseas tours include:
HCS are active commissioners of new music, and have given the first performances of several works by Ronald Corp, including his first major choral work, And All the Trumpets Sounded (available on CD), and the Missa San Marco (also on CD), and both published by Stainer and Bell. They also premiered the large-scale Adonai Echad (The Lord is One) in 2001.
